Our 24/7 confidential support line is here for anyone experiencing gender-based violence, or for someone who is concerned about a friend, family member, colleague, or neighbour.
You might not be sure if what you’re experiencing is gender-based violence. Sometimes things just feel off in a relationship. If that’s the case, you are always welcome to call and talk it through with us.
You do not need to be in immediate crisis to call. In fact, reaching out before things escalate to work on a safety plan with us can help keep you safer and give you time to think through your options. Whether you are looking for information, support, or simply someone to listen, we are here.
We also know that calling a support line can feel intimidating. Our goal is to make the process as simple, safe, and low stress as possible, because no one should feel they can’t reach out for help. Our services focus on women’s safety, but we welcome anyone experiencing intimate partner violence to reach out.
You can call us anytime at 1 (800) 265-5506, day or night, every day of the year.
So, what actually happens when you call?
When you dial the number, you will first hear a short recorded message letting you know you’ve reached Artemis Huron.
After that, you’ll hear a few options to help direct your call:
- Press 2 for business or administrative inquiries, such as donations
- Press 0 to connect with our 24/7 Support Line for immediate support
- Enter a staff extension if you already know the person you are trying to reach
- Press 1 for non-urgent client or program needs
If you select the Support Line, you will be connected with one of our trained Women & Family Services Advocates.
Our expert advocates provide non-judgmental, confidential support. They will listen to what’s going on, help you talk through your situation, and support you in exploring options. This might include safety planning, information about your rights, or connecting you with helpful resources.
You are always in control of the conversation. You can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. There is no pressure, no expectations, and no judgment. Our goal is simply to make sure you feel heard, supported, and connected to the help that feels right for you.
If you decide you would like additional support, we can talk with you about the services available through Artemis Huron. These could include:
- Creating a safety plan for you and your family
- Access to our emergency shelter
- Specialized counselling for women and children
- Second Stage housing for longer term stability
- Support navigating things like housing, legal processes, and employment
- Support services for your children
All of these are offered free of charge.
Reaching out for support and can be a big step, but you don’t have to figure things out on your own.
You are not alone. Artemis Huron is here for you every step of the way. Call us at 1 (800) 265-5506 anytime.
